Rodney Smith is the heart-blood of NYC Skateboarding.

Considered an Industry Pioneer and Visionary, Rodney has been skateboarding since he could walk, and his passion soon became all- consuming as the seeds of the SHUT brand and movement were planted. His natural entrepreneurial spirit and drive could not be contained and he founded SHUT Skates with fellow NYC skaters in 1986. Rodney’s integrity and strength of character quickly gained him a reputation as a tastemaker and “influencer” with a strong sense of style.
